普罗富莫被曝出与基勒有婚外情后，他起先对下议院否认此事，之后又承认撒谎。加上基勒又被曝出可能同时跟苏联驻英国的海军专员尤金·伊万诺夫有染。此事件很快成为一起全球丑闻。
该剧将由《苹果园》编剧阿曼达·科写剧本，共6集，10月开拍，将在英国布里斯托尔拍摄，明年播出。
