周胜强（黄少祺 饰）陈进辉（陈冠霖 饰）与方耀武（江宏恩 饰）是共赴东南亚发展的结拜兄弟。某天三人冒险从事走私活动，却因“鬼王”（霍正奇 饰）使其关系产生变化。
鬼王为夺回钻石，追杀周胜强等人，后因方耀武为自保，导致替周胜强挡下子弹的陈进辉跌下山崖。之后失忆的陈进辉被鬼王的女儿明娜（许钧钧 饰）救起带到日本发展，并改名青木洋介。
陈进辉失踪后，妻子江碧玉（廖苡乔 饰）与长子 陈子维（楚翔 饰）因走投无路而被高世贤（江国宾 饰）救下，而后发现怀上遗腹女陈晓春（林萱瑜 饰）。
因为当时的错误让周胜强心理过不去并因此被方耀武制衡。28年后的方耀武除了自有的大方营造外另也因受惠于周胜强持有胜发集团股份。关系变化后他们为了财富而产生冲突，像是方耀武指示儿子和胜发集团抢标案。
周胜强因为心里过不去而持续寻找陈进辉的亲人，但没有发现母亲的看护江碧玉与自己胜发集团旗下员工陈晓春即是陈进辉的妻女，这个过程中陈晓春发现陈进辉的离去可能与周胜强有关。
在胜发集团任职期间陈晓春介绍李冬雨（邱子芯 饰）入职胜发集团任业务部经理，李冬雨因为父亲欠债而生活困顿，因陈晓春家提供协助，故李冬雨和陈晓春家关系良好，除把江碧玉看成母亲一般外也和陈子维发展为男女朋友。
周胜强的妻子贵妇孙丽红（江祖平 饰）和单亲妈妈江碧玉为了彼此的愿望相互争夺，彼此关系紧张，经常互相针对，两人的恩怨可追溯至学生时期⋯⋯
The new season returns to Larvik on a seemingly idyllic summer evening at the Greenwood family. But the following morning, a hotel employee is found murdered, and a six-year-old British boy, Clifford Greenwood, has disappeared without a trace.
The family receives a ransom demand and cryptic messages from the kidnapper, and when family secrets are revealed, Wisting suspects that there may be a personal motive behind the disappearance. There is also enormous international pressure on Wisting and the team to solve the murder and find the boy before it is too late.
